CBI Arrests Junior Engineer In Assam For Accepting Bribe

 

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Junior Engineer of the Central Water Commission (CWC) in Silchar, Assam, on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹12,000. The accused was caught red-handed on Wednesday, September 18, while accepting the bribe from the complainant.

The case was registered by the CBI on September 18, 2024, following allegations that the engineer demanded a bribe to clear pending payments of approximately ₹1.55 lakh. The amount was related to the supply of a vehicle on hire by the complainant to the CWC.

A trap was set, and the accused was apprehended while accepting the bribe. Following the arrest, the CBI also conducted searches at various locations connected to the case. 

More investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities continue to probe for further evidence of the alleged corruption.
