Case registered against unscrupulous traders in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team of officials from Legal Metrology department have registered a case against the unscrupulous traders in Guwahati.

The case was registered following an inspection carried out by the officials on June 6 to check the variations in the retail and wholesale prices of potato and onion in the market.

As part of the inspection, the officials visited several areas, including Fancybazar, Ganeshguri, Dispur Supermarket, Six Mile, Beltola and Maligaon shuttle gate.

During their visit, the retail prices of potato and onion found to be at:

Potato: Rs 14/- 20/- per kg.

Onion: Rs 18/- to 22/- per kg.

Wholesale prices found as:

Potato: Rs 1000/- to 1500/- per qntl.

Onion Rs 1200/- to  1700/- per qntl.

Officials of Food Civil Service and Consumer Affairs, Kamrup (M) District also took part in the inspection.

The officials directed the traders to keep the purchase memo of the items along with them in the shops and also to clearly display the prices of potato and onion in their shops.
