Cannabis Weighing Over 100 Kg Seized In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, Assam police have successfully intercepted a large consignment of cannabis weighing 102 kgs in the Gossaigaon subdivision of Assam's Kokrajhar district. 

Two individuals have been detained in connection with the smuggling attempt, as per media reports.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding a potential smuggling bid, the Gossaigaon Police conducted an anti-narcotics operation at the Srirampore village and intercepted a truck near a petrol pump between Gossaigaon and Srirampur village.

The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of cannabis during a thorough search of a truck that had been intercepted.

As per reports, the vehicle was travelling from Guwahati and was on its way to West Bengal.

While speaking to G Plus, the Superintendent of Police of Kokrajhar district, Puspraj Singh said, “The truck was travelling from Guwahati and was en route to West Bengal when it was intercepted by the police team. We seized a consignment weighing 102 kgs and an investigation is being carried out in the case.”
