Cabinet Approves Amendment of Assam Secretariat Service Rules

GUWAHATI: In a significant move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and aligning with central government practices, the Assam State Cabinet, in its meeting held yesterday, approved the amendment of the Assam Secretariat Service Rules, 2019, and the Assam Subordinate Service Rules, 1963.

The amendments entail the re-designation of the Senior Administrative Assistant as Assistant Section Officer and the Superintendent as Section Officer within the Assam Secretariat Service.

The decision to revise the Secretariat Service Rules in Assam reflects the state government's commitment to streamline administrative processes and improve the overall functioning of the secretariat.

By re-designating the positions of Senior Administrative Assistant and Superintendent, the cabinet aims to align the administrative structure with contemporary practices and bring it in line with the Central Secretariat framework.

The amendments are part of the ongoing reforms being implemented in subordinate services across Assam.

By adopting similar designations and roles as those followed in the Central Secretariat, the state government seeks to establish a standardized administrative setup that promotes efficiency, coordination, and interdepartmental synergy.
