GUWAHATI: Protests against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act continued on Sunday as Congress started an 800-km-long ‘padayatra’ from Sadiya to Dhubri.
Assam Congress Persident Ripun Bora started the statewide ‘padayatra’ from Sadiya where around 20,000 people assembled.
Addressing the people, Bora said, “We have been stating it very clearly that Assam will never accept this Act. It is anti-Assam and anti-Northeast.

The Congress is with the people of Assam.” He added that the agitation will be further intensified till the Act is repealed.
Meanwhile, a public funeral ceremont was organised in Guwahati on December 22, in memory of 17-year-old Sam Stafford, who was killed in the firing by the security forces during the protests.
