Budget 2024: Vaccination Programme Announced For Girls Aged 9-14 To Prevent Cervical Cancer

 

GUWAHATI: A vaccination programme to prevent cervical cancer for girls aged between 9 to 14 years has been announced by the Central Government in the 2024-2025 Interim Budget today, along with several schemes for maternal and childcare. 

“Our Government will encourage vaccination for girls in age group of 9 to 14 years for prevention of cervical cancer,” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the budget speech in the Parliament. 

“The Government will encourage this vaccination among the eligible categories”, she further added.  

The Union Finance Minister also stated that one comprehensive program will be created to bring synergy in various maternal and childcare programmes and the upgrading of Anganwadi Centres under the ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0’ scheme will be expedited which is expected to improve nutrition delivery, along with early childhood care and development.
