GUWAHATI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that new medical colleges will be set up across the country to fulfill the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
This was announced in the Budget speech today, where she said, “Several youth are ambitious to get qualified as doctors. They aim to serve our people through improved healthcare services. Our Government plans to set up more medical colleges by utilizing the existing hospital infrastructure under various departments. A committee for this purpose will be set-up to examine the issues and make relevant recommendations.”
The existing hospital infrastructure under various departments will be utilized for setting up the new Medical Colleges and a Committee will be set up to examine the issues and make relevant recommendations, stated the Union Finance Minister, who expressed hope that this initiative will lead to creation of more opportunities for youth to become doctors while also improving healthcare services for the people.
