Budget 2024: Centre Announces ₹75,000 Crore Loans For States

GUWAHATI: The Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2024 Interim Budget today announced that a decision has been taken to provide ₹75,000 crore worth 50-year interest free loan to states for reforms in order to realize the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. 

“Many growth and development enabling reforms are needed in states. Provision of Rs. 75,000 crores as 50-year interest-free loan is proposed this year to support those milestone-linked reforms by state governments,” the Finance Minister announced in the Budget speech today. 

The Central Government had earlier launched the Viksit Bharat@2047 program aiming to make India a developed nation in 100th year of its independence by 2047, a vision which encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance, among others.
