GUWAHATI: The News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA) has issued an advisory instructing its member news channels to refrain from inviting Pakistani panellists on their programmes.

The recent advisory follows concerns raised by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting over the presence of commentators from Pakistan who allegedly spread anti-India propaganda, in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Circulated to all editors affiliated with NBDA, the notice has stated that some panellists from Pakistan were using Indian television platforms to undermine the country’s sovereignty and security. In response, the association urged editors to exercise strict editorial discretion to prevent the misuse of channels and digital platforms for false narratives against the nation.

The NBDA further advised that individuals known for espousing views against India’s interests must not be invited to discussions. It asked editorial teams to ensure compliance by sharing the advisory with all relevant personnel.

This move comes as India continues to respond to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, including 25 tourists and a local. The attack has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, prompting both diplomatic and strategic measures from New Delhi.
