Book Digitalisation Company Loots ₹ 150 Crore From Clients In Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police apprehended one person on October 28, who was involved in a book digitalization company named ‘Skill Kits Private Limited’, a Gurgaon-based company that deceived many residents of the North East, including Guwahati. The person Kaushik Baishya, a resident of Geeta Nagar, is the managing director of Skill Kits Private Limited, said the police.

According to the complainants, a branch of this company is in Bora Service in Guwahati, and it was involved in deceiving ₹ 150 Crore from more than a thousand people from North East India.

According to the FIR lodged at Paltan Bazaar Police Station, the company is an agency related to book digitalisation. It asked for money amounting to ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 20 lakh from clients as security against work slots of book scanned. More than a thousand people from the North East deposited money totaling ₹150 crore. Later all the company workers fled without paying the clients, said the FIR.

The FIR further mentioned names of the employees: Kaushik Baishya, Kamaluddin Ali, Bidisha Devi, Abhishek Tiwari, Nikita, Kanaj Dev, Sandeep and Sudhangshu Chauhan, whose work was to contact the clients. 

Speaking to G Plus, the Sub Inspector of the Paltan Bazaar Police Station said, “We apprehended Baishya on Friday night, from his residence in Geeta Nagar. The other employees are absconding. Many of them are from outside Assam.”

The investigation is ongoing. Further details are awaited.
