GUWAHATI: The decomposed body of a missing youth was discovered in the Barak River on Tuesday, January 7. He is identified as Purnachandra Barman.

Barman, a resident of Uzan village in Borkhola, Cachar, was reported missing after leaving his rented accommodation on Chengkudi Road on December 31.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Katigorah police station said, “Residents of Katigorah discovered a decomposed body in the river on Tuesday, later identified by Barman's brother. The body was recovered and sent to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for a post-mortem examination. Barman had been reported missing since December 31. We are currently investigating the cause of death.”
