GUWAHATI: In an alarming incident, a mysterious white pick-up van has been seen in near VIP International Hotel near Kalapahar picking up dogs in the wee hours.
According to reports, citizens of the area saw a mysterious white van with green net on three sides picked around 20-25 dogs from the area and took them away.
In the meanwhile, curious people approached the van and the persons in the van said they are taking the dogs for treatment.
The citizens upon contacting JBF (NGO), who is in charge of the project headed by GMC, wherein they pickup stray dogs for their welfare but JBF confirmed that their van is yellow in colour and recently have only taken dogs from the Barsapara area for vaccination not Kalapahar.
Locals alleged that the incident may be related to 'dog meat trade' as the traders may have adopted new tactic which will help them to do their crime without any hindrance from the public.
An FIR has been lodged in the Fatail Ambari police station and the matter is been investigated.
