GUWAHATI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a comprehensive set of policy guidelines to maintain discipline, unity, and operational efficiency for the Senior Men’s National Cricket Team. One of the key guidelines mandates participation in domestic matches for players to remain eligible for national selection and central contracts to strengthen the game’s grassroots structure, keep players match-fit, and inspire emerging talents. Any exceptions to this rule will only be granted under extraordinary circumstances with the approval of the Selection Committee Chairman.

Players are expected to travel with the team for matches and practice sessions. Separate travel arrangements with family members are discouraged unless pre-approved by the Head Coach and the Selection Committee Chairman. Additionally, the BCCI has established a clear baggage allowance policy for players and support staff, differentiating between home series, short tours, and long-duration overseas tours. Excess baggage costs will need to be covered by the individuals concerned.
While personal staff such as managers, chefs, and security personnel have traditionally been allowed on tours, this privilege will now be discontinued to simplify logistics and maintain focus on team operations. Similarly, personal equipment or items sent separately to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru will require coordination with team management, with players responsible for any additional expenses incurred.
During series and tours, personal shoots and endorsement activities are strictly prohibited to prevent distractions and ensure players remain focused on their responsibilities.
A new family travel policy has also been introduced for overseas tours lasting over 45 days. Players’ partners and children under 18 will be allowed to join them for one visit per series, lasting up to two weeks. The BCCI will provide shared accommodation during this period, while other expenses will be borne by the player. Visits must be coordinated with the Coach, Captain, and GM Operations to ensure minimal disruption to team activities.
Players are also required to attend official BCCI shoots and promotional events as part of the board’s commitments to stakeholders. Furthermore, they must remain with the team until the conclusion of a series or tour, even if matches end earlier than scheduled.
