GUWAHATI: The B. Barooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati has opened its emergency services for the cancer patients from 9th May.

From 11th May, the institute will be providing services to all patients taking regular radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

"As BBCI's staff quarters have been declared as containment zone, we have a very limited number of health workers. So we might not be able to take in OPD patients as of now," said Amal Kataki, Director of BBCI.

Currently, 87 patients are being treated in the hospital.

BBCI staff quarters have been declared as a containment zone from 8th May after a 16-year-old who was posthumously detected to be COVID-19 had stayed in the staff quarters.
