Assam's Teacher Education Grows With NCTE's Approval Of Eight More Colleges For ITEP

GUWAHATI: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has extended the reach of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in Assam by granting approval to eight additional colleges. This brings the total number of institutions in the state offering the program to seventeen. Furthermore, the NCTE has issued Letters of Intent (LOI) to four more colleges.

The colleges that have been approved to run ITEP from this season include:

1. Dhahuakhana College
2. Golaghat Commerce College
3. Kokrajhar Government College
4. Sibsagar Commerce College
5. Sibsagar Girls’ College
6. Lakhimpur Girls’ College
7. Goalpara College
8. BN College

Meanwhile, the following colleges have received a Letter of Intent (LOI) to run ITEP:

1. Sonapur College
2. B Borooah College
3. Nowgong College
4. Dibru College

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Monday, March 3, took to social media to announce the approval, stating, “I am glad to share that today, the National Council for Teacher Education (@NCTE_Official) has approved eight more colleges to run the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), bringing the total to seventeen colleges in our state! In addition, four more colleges have received a Letter of Intent (LOI).”
