In the Traditional Arts category, Debashish’s artistic depiction of Bihu compelled the judges to present him with the accolade.

The young painter recounted the blessings of his late father, mothers, and his teachers who encouraged him to continue as an artist. He has participated and won in 30 international and 50 national competitions so far, and in 2000 different competitions held across Assam.

“I feel blessed,” Debashish said, talking to G Plus. “I won’t stop here; I’ll continue to represent India in more competitions over the near future."

Four of Devashish’s paintings have also been exhibited by the Bangladesh government museum.

A passionate painter by heart, he has been putting layers to canvas since his childhood.
