GUWAHATI: Ramen Deka, Assam’s veteran leader from BJP, has been appointed as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh. The official announcement was made on Saturday, July 27.

He has been elected MP twice on BJP ticket. A veteran member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Deka served as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha, representing the Mangaldoi constituency, in 2009. After this, he became MP again in 2014 and has been the President of the BJP Assam Pradesh.
Ramen Deka was born on 1 March 1954. The 70-year-old is currently the National Secretary of BJP. Ramen Deka, a resident of Assam, is counted among the senior leaders of BJP and has always been active in politics since 1980.
