GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has approved an amendment to the Assam Sericulture Technical (Gazetted) Service Rules, 2013, enabling 100% direct recruitment of extension officers through the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media platform ‘X’ after the cabinet meeting held on Monday, May 5.
As per the new guidelines, candidates with a B.Sc in Sericulture from recognised institutes will be eligible for selection through APSC. The move is expected to create employment opportunities for graduates in the field of sericulture.
Another key decision taken in the meeting was the launch of a new model for embankment construction involving key government departments.
