Assam to Receive Additional Rs. 437.15 crore for Flood Relief

The Home Ministry has approved an additional central assistance of Rs. 437.15 crore for Assam for the damage caused by floods and landslides due to the southwest monsoon in 2020.

 

A high level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday approved an additional central assistance of Rs 1,751 crore to five states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

 

The amount will be provided from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), an MHA statement said.

 

Of the Rs. 1751 crore, Assam is the largest beneficiary, followed by Uttar Pradesh with Rs. 386.06 crore. Rs 320.94 crore has been given to Odisha, Rs 245.96 crore to Telangana, and Rs 75.86 crore to Arunachal Pradesh.

 

The statement from the Home Ministry stated that in all five states, the central government had deputed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) immediately after the calamities, without waiting for the receipt of memorandum from the governments.
