Following the Cabinet meeting on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that this scheme will be launched on September 19, with around 10,000 new beneficiaries from each of Assam's 126 constituencies.
"The exact number of beneficiaries per constituency may vary slightly, but we aim to add approximately 500 more or fewer per constituency," Sarma said to the press, highlighting the review and survey of existing beneficiaries.
To ensure state-wide engagement, 126 meetings will be held across the constituencies, with participation from ministers, MLAs, and opposition legislators.
In a second major announcement, the chief minister revealed additional plans to issue new ration cards to 17 lakh individuals. “Many eligible people lack ration cards, which prevents them from accessing Orunodoi benefits. We will begin issuing new ration cards from September 19,” he said.
The goal of the Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme is to raise the living standard of the people and diminish poverty in the state. Women are eligible to apply for the scheme. The government will give an amount of Rs 1250 to help women in the state.
