Assam To Build ₹107.89-Crore State-of-the-Art Sports Stadium In Kokrajhar

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved construction of a state-of-the-art sports stadium in Kokrajhar, the headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR.)

This was announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as one of the key decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting on Friday, September 13.

Valued at ₹107.89 crore, the project aims to significantly boost sports infrastructure in the region. The stadium will feature a 13,500-seater football arena, an 8-lane 400-meter synthetic running track, and an Olympic-standard aquatic centre with 750 seats.

It will also contain a 1,200-seater indoor stadium, and a multi-purpose field for various sports like football, cricket, hockey, and volleyball. 

Additionally, it will include four lawn tennis courts and two boxing rings.

Other Cabinet decisions included partnership with Dassault Systèmes India Pvt Ltd for establishing an Aerospace and Defence Centre of Excellence, a new flyover at Down Town Junction in Guwahati, reamping the state zoo etc..
