Assam State Zoo Expands Collection With Seven New Species Through Exchange Programme

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Zoo welcomed seven new species as part of an animal exchange programme with Chhatbir Zoo in Punjab. Among the newly acquired species are the Comb Duck, Chukar Partridge, Java Sparrow, and more to enrich the zoo’s diversity.

Assam State Zoo took to X, stating about the development on Saturday, March 22.

The latest arrivals are expected to enhance the zoo’s conservation and educational efforts while offering visitors an opportunity to witness a broader range of wildlife. 

The exchange programme aims to strengthen collaboration between zoological parks and contribute to the preservation of various species.
