GUWAHATI: Private airliner SpiceJet has decided to suspend its services to Lilabari airport in Lakhimpur, Assam from June 30, nearly four and half months after its operation.

On January 15 this year, SpiceJet began a daily direct flight on the Kolkata- Lilabari route as part of the UDAN scheme. The service has made Lilabari the first destination of SpiceJet in Assam under the UDAN scheme.

The decision has raised questions to the fate of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme that aims to connect small towns of the country.
