Assam: Social Media Post About Cabinet Meeting Fake

GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Assam, issued a warning regarding a fake social media post claiming that a Cabinet meeting was held today and several decisions were made. 

According to the clarification provided by DIPR Assam, no Cabinet meeting took place on the mentioned date, and no such decisions were taken.

The fraudulent post suggested that the Assam Cabinet, in a purported meeting held in Guwahati, decided to send a proposal to the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry for granting tribal status to Kukis and Meiteis in Assam. Additionally, the post outlined several other supposed decisions:

•    Merger of SEBA and AHSEC, forming one board for classes 10 and 12
•    Declaration of a state holiday in 10 districts of Assam for Aliyai Ligang
•    Approval of Khasi Jaintia Development Council in Assam

However, the fact-check confirmed that these claims were false and urged the public to be cautious of misinformation spread through fake posts on social media platforms.
