Assam Sindhi Panchayat celebrates Lord Jhulelal's birthday in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam Sindhi Panchayat, Guwahati celebrated Chetichand Lord Jhulelal’s birthday with zeal and enthusiasm on April 21, said a press release.

Lord Jhulelal, also known as Jal Devta, had always preached peace and unity among all. After a 40-day fasting the devotees took out a small procession called Bairana Saheb and immersed the idol in the Brahmaputra.

A cultural programme was held at Bhramin Bhavan, Chatribari where women and children performed and sang religious songs. It was followed by a community dinner.

The day was also marked by the general election of the organisation where a new executive body was formed with Narayandas Doolani as president, Krishan Rupani as working president, Mahesh Santani as vice president, Pankaj Khemani as general secretary, Ritesh Karamchandani as joint secretary and Vimal Vasandani as treasurer.
