Assam: Senior Inspector Dismissed For Gross Misconduct In Darrang 

 

GUWAHATI: Sub-Inspector Utpal Bora, a senior police officer formerly stationed at Dhula Police Station in Darrang district, has been dismissed from service following a departmental inquiry.

The decision comes as a result of a detailed investigation of the Darrang District Executive Force (DEF). The inquiry against SI (UB) Utpal Bora was initiated based on allegations of serious misconduct during his tenure at the Dhula Police Station.

According to Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, the investigation examined available evidentiary records and statements from multiple prosecution witnesses. The findings indicated a clear case of gross misconduct committed by Bora, warranting strict disciplinary action.

Bora was arrested in connection with the murder of a minor girl on October 31, 2022. The former officer in-charge of Dhula police station was arrested for taking bribe from the family of the accused as well as tampering with evidence.
