GUWAHATI: The Senior Assistant of the Superintendent of Food & Civil Supplies And Consumer Affairs has been apprehended by the Directorate of Vigilance And Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam on charges of bribery in Karbi Anglong, on April 12.

The person, identified as Gurupada Das, was caught after he allegedly accepted a bribe from the complainant on the office premises at Bokajan for the renewal of his licence.

DVAC took to X to put out, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Gurupad Das, Sr. Asstt. of O/O the Supdt. of Food& Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bokajan, Dist- Karbi Anglong, after he accepted demanded bribe from the complainant in the office, for renewal of licence.”
Das has been taken into custody as further investigations are under way.
