GUWAHATI: Assam secured three medals at the 1st Khelo India Para Games 2023, held in New Delhi.
Drawing participation from 1451 athletes representing 32 states and union territories, the Games showcased the skill of para-athletes from across the nation.
The golden moment for Assam came when Anishmita Konwar, sealed her victory in the Long Jump event. Anishmita's remarkable feat not only earned her well-deserved gold but also stood testament to the emerging athletic abilities present in the northeastern state.
Chiranjita Bharali added to Assam's medal tally by securing a silver in the Women's Singles Badminton category, displaying skill and sportsmanship in her pursuit of excellence.
Completing the trio of medalists, earlier Ababil Ali showcased speed and determination in the 100mtrs Run, clinching the bronze for Assam.
The Paralympic Association of Assam expressed its heartfelt congratulations to the three medalists, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. The trio, consisting of Ababil Ali from Barpeta, Chiranjita Bharali from Lakhimpur, and Anishmita Konwar from Sivasagar, brought laurels not only to themselves but also to the state of Assam.
