GUWAHATI: In a recent development, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), has announced that the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations are scheduled to take place in February 2024. In a related directive issued to the Inspector of Schools (AII), SEBA has introduced Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets for answering objective-type questions, marking a significant shift in the examination format.
Under the new directives, SEBA has allocated 50 per cent of the total marks for objective-type questions, each carrying one mark. These objective questions will be featured in core subjects, including English (CI), General Mathematics (C2), General Science (C3), and Social Science (C4). Notably, candidates will be provided with a single OMR sheet bearing their names to record their answers to these objective questions.
Students who appeared in Unit Test-1, with the exception of those who did not pass the HSLC Examination in 2023, and who maintain regular attendance in their classes are expected to take part in upcoming examinations, including Unit Test-II, Half Yearly Examination, and Pre-Board Examination.
On the other hand, unsuccessful HSLC candidates from the 2023 examination who have been re-admitted to class 10 but did not sit for Unit Test-I are required to attend classes regularly and are also expected to participate in the Half Yearly Examination, Unit Test-II, and Pre-Board Examination.
