GUWAHATI: Assam scientist and professor Purabi Saikia received the prestigious Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award on Thursday, August 22.

She was conferred the award by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2024 Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
Dr Saikia, who hails from Lakhimpur in Assam, received the award, along with Dr Bappi Paul, for outstanding work in the field of Environmental Sciences.
Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta congratulated her on her feat and said, "Congratulations to Dr. Purabi Saikia and Dr. Bappi Paul on being conferred the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, 2024 from Hon'ble President Droupadi Murmu ji at Rashtrapati Bhawan today. The achievements of the two young scientists will profoundly inspire the younger generation of our state Assam."
