GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has approved the allocation of 29 bighas of government land in Goalpara district to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for setting up an LPG bottling plant.

The decision was shared by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his official X handle following the cabinet meeting held on Monday, May 5.
The land, located at Nidanpur under Balijana Revenue Circle, will be allotted on a 30-year lease with the objective of enhancing LPG distribution infrastructure. The lease can be extended as per standard lease norms in Assam.
This development has been initiated to improve the region’s LPG supply chain and generate local employment. In the same meeting, the cabinet also approved investments in health infrastructure and new schemes under the Finance Department.
