Assam: Rodents chew over 1 million worth of currency notes in Tinsukia

GUWAHATI: Taking surgical strikes to new levels rats from Tinsukia attacked the Laipuli State Bank of India’s ATM and nibbled through the pink and green backs.

Well it wasn’t much they could chew - roughly over Rs. 12 lakh was found shredded.

According to SBI sources a total of Rs. 29.48 lakh was fed to the machine on 19th May and due to some technical reason the machine mal-functioned from 20th May (next day) onwards.

When the maintenance crew opened the drawers on 11th June they were for a surprise as they found bits and pieces of pink and green leftovers.

The rats got full twenty days to chew through that pile of cash. The bank officials finally managed to salvage around seventeen lakh rupees from the machine.
