GUWAHATI: Assam has officially redefined district boundaries in Biswanath and Udalguri.
A total of 41 villages will now fall under the administrative jurisdiction of Udalguri District, transitioning from their previous alignment with Biswanath District, effective immediately.
The reorganisation, in line with the standing instructions conveyed by the Chief Secretary in a communication dated November 10, 2022, signifies that the transfer of administrative authority over various utilities, institutions, offices, and related entities will automatically shift to the new district.
District Commissioners of the concerned districts are not required to await further directives from respective departments to exercise administrative control over these institutions and offices.
The villages fall under multiple Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LAC) like Gohpur, Biswanath, Sootea, and Dhekiajuli.
The revenue circles covered are Gohpur, Halem, Naduar, Biswanath, Chariduar, and Dhekiajuli.
