GUWAHATI: The Amrit Brikshya Andolan, spearheaded by the Assam, has secured nine Guinness World Records in various categories. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was honoured with certificates from Guinness World Record Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar during a ceremony at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on November 29.
The initiative witnessed the planting of an impressive 1,11,17,781 seedlings of commercially valuable tree species across the state on a single day, September 17, 2023. The extensive participation included Self-Help Group Members, ASHA Workers, Anganwadi Workers, educational institutions, police personnel, tea garden workers, government officials, and citizens.
The efforts to secure Guinness World Records were successful across nine distinct categories:
1. Longest Line of Potted Saplings:
• Location: Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, Guwahati
• Record: 22.22 km long line of 3,22,444 poly-potted saplings arranged in a spiral form.
2. Largest Number of Saplings Distributed at One Venue in 24 hours:
• Location: Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, Guwahati
• Record: 3,22,444 seedlings distributed, breaking the earlier record set in 2018.
3. Most Trees Planted by a Team in 24 hours:
• Location: Bhairabkunda Reserve Forests, Udalguri
• Record: 9,21,730 saplings successfully planted in 100 ha degraded forest land.
4. Most Trees Planted by a Team in One Hour:
• Record: 3,31,929 saplings planted in one hour by a team of 8,900 persons.
5. Largest Potted Saplings Mosaic:
• Location: Tinsukia
• Record: Potted saplings mosaic in 8,563.01 sq. m. depicting the map of Assam and a rhinoceros.
6. Fastest Agar Plantation by Girl Students:
• Location: Geleki, Sivasagar
• Record: 1,229 girl students planted 1,229 agar seedlings simultaneously in 58 seconds.
7. Online Lesson on Environmental Conservation and Sustainability:
• Record: Lesson by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Assam, viewed by 70,490 persons.
8. Most Photographs Uploaded for Tree Plantation:
• Record: 71,82,358 photographs of people planting trees uploaded online.
9. Most Pledges Received for an Environmental Sustainability Campaign (Online):
• Record: 47,28,898 online pledges during Amrit Brikhya Andolan.
CM Sarma outlined future goals to plant three crore and five crore saplings in 2024 and 2025, respectively. Additionally, plans include staging the Bihu dance in New Delhi in 2025 with the participation of 25,000 Bihua and Bihuwati.
