Assam Police Takes Action On Lakhimpur Woman's Video Appeal

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh addressed a recent video appeal highlighting domestic violence by a woman from Assam currently residing in Rajasthan. The lady, originally from Bihpuria, Lakhimpur, and married to Amarchand Rathi of Nokha in 2007, recorded a video highlighting her plight.

Having traveled to Rajasthan in October 2023, the woman filed an FIR at the Nokha Police Station, citing sections 498(A), 323, 341, and 354(A) of the Indian Penal Code. Amarchand Rathi, her husband, is presently in custody at Nokha police station, and legal actions are underway as per the law.

Taking to X, DGP Singh posted, “Reference recent video appeal of a gracious lady from Assam located in Rajasthan - The gracious lady is originally from Bihpuria, Lakhimpur and married to one Amarchand Rathi of Nokha in 2007. The lady had gone to Rajasthan in Oct 2023 and had lodged an FIR in Nokha PS vide 611/2023 u/S 498(A)/323/341/354(A) IPC. Amarchand Rathi is in Nokha police station currently and action is being taken per law. We are monitoring.”

Assam DGP GP Singh assured the public that the situation is being closely monitored, emphasising the commitment to ensuring justice and lawful proceedings in the case. The woman's appeal has prompted action from the authorities to address the matter.
