GUWAHATI: The Assam Police Headquarters has denied speculations surrounding an individual named Manas Borgohain allegedly in the custody of ULFA (I). Contrary to these rumours, it is clarified that Manas Borgohain has never been associated with the Assam Police.
The confusion arises from a misinterpretation of the Recruitment Merit List by certain media portals. The individual in question is, in fact, Manashjyoti Burhagohain, presently serving as a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) in Karimganj.
Burhagohain was recruited in 2021, and his official photograph, complete with date and GPS stamp, has been provided by Assam Police for verification purposes.
The Assam Police has urged the public and media to exercise caution and verify information before spreading unverified news. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) emphasised the importance of accuracy in reporting to avoid unnecessary confusion.
