GUWAHATI: On World Children's Day, observed globally on November 20, the Assam Police illuminated its headquarters, SP offices, and police stations across the state in blue, marking the culmination of the Child Rights Week campaign.
The Child Rights Week campaign, initiated by the Assam Police on November 14, aimed to create awareness and advocate for the rights of children. The "Go Blue" campaign symbolises the promotion and safeguarding of the rights of all children.
As the first responders in situations involving child victims of crime or those in conflict with the law, the police play a crucial frontline role in determining the course of justice for children.
At the forefront of the police's efforts is the Sishu Mitra Programme, a collaborative venture between the Assam Police, UNICEF, and UTSAH Child Rights Org. This program, recognised as one of the largest Child-Friendly Policing initiatives in the country, focuses on strengthening response mechanisms to ensure the protection of child rights across the state.
Harmeet Singh, IPS, Special DGP of Assam and Convenor of the Sishu Mitra Programme, extended wishes to all young ones on World Children's Day and talked about the recent developments.
