Assam Police Committed To Eradicate FICN, Counterfeit Gold Network Within 30 Days

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam police are committed to initiating a comprehensive operation against the state's counterfeit currency and gold networks, said state DGP GP Singh at a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday.

Taking a strong measure aimed at curbing illegal activities, the DGP further informed that the department had set a strict deadline of 30 days to eradicate the trade of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and counterfeit gold from the state.

"There is a need for a large-scale operation to address these issues, which have become prevalent in the public domain," Singh added.

The DGP's statement highlights the seriousness with which the Assam Police intends to tackle the problems of FICN and fake gold.

"By setting a specific timeframe, we aim to mobilise resources and conduct extensive efforts to eliminate these illicit practices. This decisive action underscores Assam Police's commitment to ensure the integrity of the financial system and protect the public from the detrimental effects of counterfeit currency and fake gold," he added.

The DGP also announced that the Assam police had apprehended 75 individuals on Friday night concerning the illicit trade of counterfeit gold and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) within the state.

He further informed that the police had discovered a counterfeit gold item and seized ₹6.5 lahks in the Biswanath district of Assam.

He emphasised that strict action would be taken against any police officials involved in illegal activities, emphasising his unwavering determination to root out such corruption.
