“Our current year’s public expenditure has surpassed ₹1 lakh crore as of today, marking a significant milestone,” Sarma posted on X. “Congratulations to the Finance Department for achieving remarkable growth and effective financial management!”

The development marks an improvement in the state’s economic growth, highlighting an increase from last year’s expenditure of ₹89,000 crore recorded on the same date.

This upward trend in public spending has arrived at a time when Assam is witnessing steady economic development, with major investments committed to several sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, and industry.

Part of this development has been attributed to the Finance Department’s planning and allocation of resources while managing the state’s finances for varying developmental projects.
