Assam Police Bags Prestigious FICCI Smart Policing Award 2020

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police has been honoured with the "FICCI Smart Policing Award 2020". The Assam police received this award in the Anti-Human Trafficking category for the second consecutive year in recognition of its outstanding work in Anti-Human Trafficking. 


Surendra Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP), CID Assam received this award on March 20, 2021 as Nodal Officer for Anti-Human Trafficking. 


“Operation Sajag, an initiative of CID, Assam Police aimed at creating awareness among the masses on human trafficking has been effective in its efforts to combat human trafficking.  Assam Police could reach out to a large number of people in many districts of the state during Durga Puja in 2019 through this initiative,” Surendra Kumar, IGP told G Plus.


Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) has instituted the award in 2016 for recognising and promoting best practices in Policing in India. The objective is to promote initiatives taken by the Police for the safety and security of Indian citizens. This can change public perception and build a positive and progressive image of the police among people.
