Assam Plans To Promote Cultural Heritage With ‘Sanskritik Mahasangram’

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to promote the vibrant and the unique cultural heritage of the state with ‘Sanskritik Mahasangram,’ a specially-designed grand cultural event.

The decision to organise the grand cultural event was taken at the 100th State Cabinet Meeting, which was held on Friday evening in Guwahati.

The “Sanskritik Mahasangram” is set to be a marquee event encompassing a range of artistic expressions, including music and dance.

The competition has been thoughtfully structured across six distinct categories, catering to the multifaceted dimensions of Assam's artistic legacy.

The categories are Jyoti Sangeet, Rabha Sangeet, Bhupendra Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, Tribal Dance, and Bihu, each representing a vibrant aspect of the state's culture.

Spanning a span of four months, the event ‘Sanskritik Mahasangram’ is scheduled to commence on October 10 and conclude by February 7.

This extended timeline allows participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the preparations and showcase the quintessence of their chosen art forms.

It also provides an ideal platform for cultural exchange and cross-pollination of artistic ideas.

The event is not limited to seasoned performers; and it is open to enthusiasts and talents of all ages, fostering an environment of inclusivity and participation.

The competition will be structured at the Local Assembly Constituency (LAC) level, ensuring grassroots representation and engagement.

To facilitate seamless registration, the portal for LAC Level Competition will open on September 15, enabling participants to enroll and showcase their talents.
