GUWAHATI: In the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, the Assam police achieved a major breakthrough.
The Karbi Anglong Police acted on credible information and successfully intercepted a truck that had entered Assam from a neighbouring state.
The operation led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of suspected opium concealed within the vehicle.
A thorough search of the intercepted truck revealed a hidden chamber where 54 packets, collectively weighing approximately 51.6 kilograms, were stashed.
The contents of these packets were suspected to be opium.
As a result of the operation, two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the opium seizure.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to put out a statement, which read, “Based on reliable inputs, @karbianglongpol intercepted a truck coming from a neighbouring State and recovered 51.6 kg of suspected opium contained in 54 packets in a hidden chamber of the vehicle. Two persons have been apprehended in this regard. Good job @assampolice! #AssamAgainstDrugs”
