Assam: Over 11000 People to Travel Inter District Today, 687 Buses to Ply

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government had facilitated the inter-district transport of people from 25th to 27th April.

"On the first day of the operation, 300 buses were allotted for close to 5000 people who were issued one time movement," informed Chandra Mohan Patowary during a press conference on April 26.

He added that on the second day, that is today, 687 buses are being allotted by the government for a target group of 11347 people. 

A total of 41,000 tickets were issued for people who got stuck in other districts due to lockdown and wished to return home/to work. 

Reportedly, the people who have registered via 104 helpline number, will be receiving e-ticket via SMS a day earlier to the travel date. The tickets are to contain the bus details, name of the person, serial number, origin and destination of the journey along with the date and time of travel.

Only those people who have received the e-tickets will be allowed to travel.

The buses are to move from 12 noon from the ASTC bus stands of all districts.

However, Guwahati is to have four boarding points at Paltanbazar bus stand, Machkhowa, ISBT and Adabari. In all other districts, the boarding points are only from the respective ASTC stations.

Earlier, AP Tiwari, MD of ASTC, speaking to media informed that only those people who have received the SMS are to come to the assigned pick-up spot. Further, people are to wear their mask and gloves and maintain social-distancing.

He informed that all travellers will have to undergo a health test at the boarding place before being allowed to proceed. 

The government has also arranged for smaller vehicles for district administrators.
