The Dhemaji Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has filed an official complaint at the Silapathar Police Station, exposing details of this illegal transaction. According to the CWC's investigation, the infant born at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, was brought to the home of pediatrician Chandjit Doley in Silapathar for treatment, where the sale reportedly took place.

The probe revealed that the child’s biological parents, a couple from Nilakh in Dhemaji, allegedly sold the newborn to a woman named Baby Pegu from Silapathar. In an apparent attempt to cover up the transaction, the parents informed the CWC that the child had died. Following this discovery, the Chairperson of the Dhemaji CWC has formally requested a thorough investigation and has called for strict legal action against all those involved in the case.

Further details are awaited.
