GUWAHATI: A most-wanted criminal was arrested following an encounter with Police in the Nagaon district of Assam on Monday night, December 6.
The accused, identified as Abdul Baset aka Iffu, has been previously linked with several cases of crimes in Nagaon, according to police. Iffu was shot in his right leg after he tried to escape from the police.

"Iffu is a common factor in most crimes in Nagaon. People are even scared as he is involved in a lot of land and drug-related crimes," Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra told G Plus.
Along with Iffu, the Nagaon Police had caught seven others in the bust. They include Md Kabir Hussain, Sanjay Deb, Diganta Borgohain, Md. Wazed Ali, MdSaju Rehman, Mihir Dey and Feroze Ahmed.
