The team, from the veterinary department, was reportedly on a mission to deliver aid to Kartik Chapori and Bhekeli villages near Majuli but encountered problems when their boat malfunctioned after getting stuck in a bar.

The team comprised three officials and four workers. The officials included 7 relief workers (veterinary personnel & ferrymen) who were rescued from the middle of the Brahmaputra. Concerns escalated when communication was lost with the team amidst the challenging flood conditions.
