The announcement came during the inaugural meeting of the association’s Executive Committee on Monday, October 14 which laid out a range of ambitious plans to boost Assam's participation in national and international sporting events.

The Executive Committee aims to create a working group of experts and senior sportspersons to identify and nurture athletic talent at the grassroots level, contributing to Assam's production of national and international athletes.

The committee’s strategic vision also includes plans for a Youth Olympics and a Sports Conclave, aiming to foster a strong sports culture in the state.

Additionally, the AOA is working diligently to prepare the Assam contingent for the upcoming National Games in Uttarakhand.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated the importance of the association’s efforts in improving Assam’s sports scenario. With strong leadership and a renewed focus on strategic initiatives, the AOA is poised to significantly impact the athletic landscape in Assam.

One of the key decisions was to establish the Assam Olympic Award Ceremony, an annual event dedicated to honouring the achievements of the state’s top athletes. The award will be named in tribute to Assam's sports icon, boxer Lovlina Borgohain, in recognising her international accomplishments.

Additionally, the AOA announced the launch of the Assam Youth Olympic Games to nurture young talent across the state.
