Assam: Minister Pijush Hazarika Seeks Probe Into Death Of Elephant After Being Hit By Train In Jagiroad

 

GUWAHATI: Pijush Hazarika, Assam minister of Parliamentary Affairs, has written to the state Environment minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, requesting to institute an inquiry into the death of a wild elephant in Morigaon after being hit by the Kanchanjunga Express.

The elephant was killed after being hit by the Kanchanjunga Express near Jagiroad in Morigaon district of Assam on Wednesday, July 10. According to reports, the tusker was crossing the railway tracks when it was hit by the Guwahati-bound train in the Jagiroad-Aujuri stretch at 6.20 AM. 


Many animals are being forced to leave their habitats inundated by the flood waters in search of food and higher ground.
