GUWAHATI: The controlled burning of forest areas for the year 2023 has begun in Kaziranga National Park, engulfing vast grasslands to prevent unwanted grass from spreading.
Every year, between February and March, the national park conducts controlled burning to promote the growth of softer grasslands and prevent the spread of unwanted grass.

Wild animals can't eat from tall grass forests, and the wood that grows in them makes it harder to protect grasslands.
To avoid disturbing the animals, the fire is lit in small patches.
