Assam: India's Largest Pork Processing Plant Inaugurated In Sivasagar

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated India's largest pork processing plant in Nazira, Sivasagar district. The Export Oriented Pork Processing Plant aims to bolster the commercial pig farming industry in the state.

The inauguration marked a milestone in Assam's journey towards becoming an export hub for processed meat. With a processing capacity of 400 pigs per day, the plant is poised to significantly benefit local piggery farmers and entrepreneurs, while positioning Assam as a key player in the global processed meat market.

Highlighting the plant's strategic significance, Minister of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Atul Bora emphasised the immense demand for processed pork meat in Southeast Asian and Western countries, as well as Assam's status as the largest pork consumer in India. The establishment of the pork processing plant aims to tap into global markets through the state's livestock products.
